Gil Beilke 9/26/2012
Gil loved Sierras he climbed many peaks there.
He loved desert also. That is where we hiked with him mostly.
Here are few pictures I made on our Monday Hikes with him.
Looking always up.
Here he is clearing a way for us.
Even when he was in his 70’s and I was in my mid 50’s I could not keep up with him going up, on flat or going down. He was amazing.
Climbing on a beach with Virginia.
Once I asked Gil at what age he started to slow down and he said: after 60. I cannot imagine what shape he was when he was 40.
Here we are checking a cave.
Wind cave.
Always climbing up.
Gill could fix anything and liked to do that.
Cold but happy.
His Gilmobile.
That smile!
At the trestle.
We made it.
Our old group.
At the East Mesa.
Gil you were my Hero!
Gil and Al our leaders.
No problem to climb this up when you are about 80.
Al is going to do some denture work
Gil and girls.
One of the last hikes that Gil was leading: Bellow Point Loma at low tide.
Gil and Al, they are now together on a Big Great Hike.
