Whale Peak from June Wash 1/25/2016
Parking at the end of the road.
We need to cross few ridges first.
Those who will go with John on his Mud Palisade hike rise your hand.
Here is John’s group.
We are going up to Whale Peak.
The last time we have done this hike in 2006 we did not make it all the way to the peak.
There are nice dry waterfalls here. They are not slowing us down, yet.
Here is the Big One.
We are slightly bypassing it.
Kerry is going up.
We got some dire warnings about this hike. Mainly that it was newer completed this way.
We can see the top (almost). Do we stop and return or do we continue? There is only one answer: so Warning changed into Challenge!
Thanks to The Challenge we made it here.
It will be shorter lunch than usually.
Our group here.
Big yucca.
Cougar was here.
We are going down but there are some ups also.
Cars are somewhere down there.
It will be a long way down.
Rocky gully.
Made it to the top of the big fall. How are we going to get down?
Going up the ridge to bypass falls.
Almost back down.
Sun is still up.
We have about three miles to go.
It is getting dark, time to find headlamps.
Made it! It is time to celebrate!
