Atlants in Prague
Back in S.D. John is doing his Alphabet Hikes by walking city streets in alphabetical order.
Here in Prague I am doing my city hikes by Alpha Subjects.
My first subject is Atlants (Atlas) in Prague. Atlas is a legendary giant condemned to hold up the heavens or sky for eternity.
This one is on top of Astronomical Tower.
By the Greek tale Atlas was turned into stone by Perseus.
Here in Prague Atlants are mostly condemned to hold up balconies.
Triple Atlants.
It is on their shoulders.
You can even buy one to take home with you.
Quatro.
Same building another door with additional Atlants quatro.
There is a fish at the botom.
When I was young I wanted to look like these guys. Did not have their weight. Now I have the weight but no muscles anymore. Where did my muscles go?
An equal opportunity.
Guys and girls.
Closeup.
Lot of muscles.
No muscles here. Must be some old landlord with his maid.
No sweat.
These are above the old city market.
Youngsters in training.
Light balcony to hold up.
The corner view.
Who are these boys? Hmm.
Another balcony to support.
Entry guards.
Snakes above the original pharmacy that is still in business.
Some cubistic design.
Apartment house.
The one next to it has a duplicate design.
Watching babies.
Guards with dogs.
Looks happy.
Single warrior.
Coal worker and coal miner.
More corner balconies.
There are many others and I am always amazed when I find some new ones to take pictures of.
Siting Atlants from about 1715.
Moors. According to legend, the statues of the Moors come alive at night and walk around Prague. Scary.
